Award Winning Ouse Valley Launches The Tea Caddy Collection – Exceptional Marmalades Infused With Fine Teas
Piltdown, Sussex – May 31, 2012 – Renowned for their culinary combinations and stunning trade-mark crystal clear jellies with their ingredients magically suspended within, the Sussex based Ouse Valley is launching what is believed to be a unique concept in marmalades. Called "The Tea Caddy Collection", it combines two great British breakfast institutions – marmalade and tea – in three original flavours, Lime & Earl Grey with Bergamot, Orange & Lapsang Souchong and Lemon & Green Tea with Ginger.
Having trialled the concept earlier this year at The World’s Original Marmalade Awards - held annually at Dalemain Mansions & Gardens in Cumbria - Ouse Valley were delighted to receive a much sort-after Silver Medal for their Orange & Lapsang Souchong Marmalade and as a result of this resounding endorsement, decided to launch the new range.
Back in the Piltdown kitchens in East Sussex, the Ouse Valley team prepared fresh, hand-cut fruits which are then infused with either Earl Grey tea, Lapsang Souchong tea or Green Tea supplied by British Master Tea Blender, Alex Probyn.
Mrs Julian Warrender, Founder & Creative Chef of Ouse Valley said, "We are delighted to be working with Master Blender, Alex Probyn. He has specially blended the Ouse Valley Earl Grey Tea to partner the Lime with Bergamot marmalade." Alex Probyn commented, "I have always admired Ouse Valley's creativity and innovation and I am delighted to come in at the start of this exciting venture."
The Lime & Earl Grey with Bergamot Marmalade contains sugar, limes, Ouse Valley Earl Grey tea and Bergamot. The Ouse Valley Earl Grey tea combines Sri Lankan black tea, orange peel, orange blossom and bergamot oil. The resulting product has a 'sharp, fragrant medium-cut marmalade, with Bergamot essence to deepen the subtle character of the tea.'
The Lemon & Green Tea with Ginger Marmalade contains sugar, lemons, Green Tea and ginger and the tea is a Chinese Yunnan province green tea. The resulting product has a 'zingy, fresh combination of clear clean tea tones complimented with fresh root ginger and Sicilian lemons.'
The Orange and Lapsang Souchong Marmalade contains sugar, oranges, lemons and Lapsang Souchong tea and the tea is a Chinese Lapsang Souchong black tea. The resulting product has a 'lingering smoky undertone balanced beautifully with semi sweet oranges.'
Each marmalade is available in 2 sizes, in a standard 340g jar, with an RRP of £3.95 and in a smaller 100g jar, with an RRP of £2.60. The Tea Caddy Collection is also available in a special Gift Pack containing 3 x 100g jars and a pretty little organza draw-string bag containing Ouse Valley Earl Grey tea. The Gift Pack RRP is £11.00 and is available, along with the individual products, from independent food specialists.
Julian further commented, "My team are used to my Monday morning new ideas…this time I came up with a simple but obvious and complementary combination, something that all food producers – in an ever crowded market place – hope to hit on. Having been recognised at Dalemain with a Silver Award, we were hugely encouraged and decided to bring this collection forward to launch and are delighted to unveil our new Tea Caddy Collection.
"Ouse Valley reinforces authenticity, originality and a desire for quality. We are passionate about the seasonality and provenance of what we make, using nothing but the freshest, most natural ingredients. As much as possible our produce comes from local growers so we ensure authenticity and quality. No artificial preservatives or colours are ever used and each batch is cooked in small numbers to safeguard quality".

Notes to Editors
Ouse Valley was formed during May 2004 while producing fresh hollandaise sauce for the asparagus season at South Brockwells Farm, Little Horsted, East Sussex. The introduction of other fresh sauces together with a range of conserves and chutneys coincided with perfecting a method of making crystal clear jellies, the ingredients ‘magically’ suspended within their brightly coloured set. Today, Ouse Valley sells over 150 products nationally to only the finest independent retailers and farm shops.
